![]() Hi Bill and to World Tai Chi & Chi Kung Day. World Tai Chi Day for 2008 fell on Saturday 26th April. Each year on this date the Wutan Tai Chi Chuan Club, principal instructor James Connachan, raises money for charity. This year, members raised a total of £1,200* for the charity Guide Dogs For The Blind. Approximately 60 members and guests attended at Cluny Church Hall, Edinburgh and were joined by several blind and partially sighted representatives of the charity together with their guide dogs. As is traditional, at 10am precisely, everyone took part in performing the first few moves of the Tai Chi square form. The blind and partially sighted guests being assisted by members of the Club. Thereafter, some Tai Chi instruction was given for the benefit of the people who attended as guests and James, with some of the more advanced students, gave demonstrations of the various weapons forms and martial arts applications. To round off a very enjoyable two-hour session, Sandy, on behalf of the charity, thanked James and the Club members for their efforts in raising money for the charity. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * Note Though the current figure is £1,200, this is rising daily and the final figure will likely be in excess of £2,000. James will confirm this figure in the next week or two. |
