My name is Betty Rose and I live and teach tai chi in Boca Raton, Florida.

I am happy to celebrate World Tai Chi Day with you all.

I am an Associate Sifu under our Master, Julian K. Duran, instructing other seniors in tai chi at Edgewater Point Estates in Boca Raton. I will be 88 years old in one week. My students range in age from 75 to 98. They come to class with walkers and canes, and others walk in in apparently good health.

When I first started 3 years ago at Edgewater Estates, I discovered that correcting a student's position during Yang Style Long Form was limited to partial paralysis, neuropathy, and pain. My students are very brave. We do our tai chi with encouragement, humor and sharing our energy together as a family. We have seen great returns in balance improvement, arthritis pain reduction, managing weight and diabetes 2.

The gifts if tai chi from my Sifu have added quality and enjoyment and good health to my life that cannot be denied. I wish all of you a long and healthy life in a peaceful world.
