SPRING FORWARD - Nothing in Common. Everything to Gain
You've probably never heard of this movie, and therefore not seen it. You have a real treat ahead of you.
This subtle, gentle movie is about two men discovering . . . .
This film is the essence of Zen and Taoism. I don't think it ever mentions those terms, but it embodies the concepts more deeply than any film I've ever seen.
My prayer is that one day, there will be many films like this for young men and boys to grow up watching. Films that peel back the layers of our manhood to the tender reality of our humanity, rather than loud explosive movies that add calouses and hardness to our male psyches that Hollywood now pumps out like fast food burgers.
A film like this gives hope. I met Ned Beatty once, when my son was a toddler, and told Mr. Beatty how much we enjoyed him in Superman. I wish I'd seen this film, so I could have thanked him for this beautiful performance. Ned, if you are reading this, I just want to say . . . "thank you."
